Project & Event Management

Project and event management with specific experience in the cultural, educational and live games sectors

Project & Event Management

I am an Accredited Prince 2 Project Manager. I have managed projects including the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games 2014, working across the Games, Cultural and Ceremonies programmes and reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive. I conceived and delivered Guerrilla Light in conjunction with the Light Collective, for the University of Salford; involving students as participants and creators and liaising across the Universities seven schools.

Project management also includes Visual Identity and Brand Development and Photo-shoots and Filming experience (see below for further information).

Event management has included the launch of National Theatre Wales, believed to be the first ever national theatre organisation in the UK to open ‘digitally’ with a live broadcast and participation from across Wales. Event management has also spanned celebratory occasions including the fortieth anniversary of The Octagon Theatre, Bolton, which incorporated the development of a major new partnership with the University of Bolton.

Further event management has covered cultural news announcements and media coverage and creative and cultural celebrations as part of global acknowledgements – for example International Women’s Day and Black History Month.

Visual Identity & Brand Development

I have written and co-ordinated briefs and delivery of the visual identity for several UK performing arts organisations. To launch the companies and reflect their ambitions to reach audiences and develop key partnerships.

Clients have included: Contact, Manchester; The Core, Corby; Cast, Doncaster and National Theatre Wales.

It all begins with Mission, Vision and Values and once this is understood and agreed, the visual identity brief emerges. The scope of visual identity and brand project management involves identifying and selecting agencies, designers, photographers and film-makers and working with communities for feedback and ownership.

Implementation includes the development of brand guidelines. The application stage involves everything from stationery, signage, print, website and social media site development. Another critical element is clear communication across the company and advocates about the brand experience; so everyone involved can tell the same story and offer consistent service to reflect the organisation and all it stands for.

Photo Shoots & Filming

I have extensive experience in co-ordinating photo shoots and film content for a variety of clients for outdoor posters, flyers, brochure covers, event launches and online circulation.

Imagery and film content is procured to work with organisational values and appeal to diverse audiences.

Clients have included: Manchester International Festival; The Octagon Theatre, Bolton; Leicester Haymarket Theatre (now Curve) amongst others over many years.

This has involved working with Artistic Directors, actors and sourcing models who are people not recruited through model agencies. Project managing all aspects of photography and film shoots (obtaining personal and corporate permissions outdoors where necessary) and commissioning suppliers to deliver quality output on time to client briefs and budgets.
